Grow Wild is funded by Big Lottery Fund

Every year, Big Lottery Fund (BIG) gives out millions of pounds from the National Lottery to good causes. The money goes to community groups and projects, like Grow Wild, that improve well-being, education and the environment.

BIG is delighted to invest Lottery funding into Grow Wild to inspire people – and especially young people – to get creative and transform their local communities by sowing UK native wild flowers.

Grow Wild is a £10.5m programme funded from May 2012 to April 2017.

Grow Wild is led by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

Kew’s mission is to “to be the global resource for plant knowledge, building an understanding of the world’s plants upon which all our lives depend”

Over the past 250 years, Kew has made innumerable contributions to increasing the understanding of plants and fungus with many benefits for mankind.

Kew’s Grow Wild team works extremely closely with our colleagues at Kew’s UK Native Seed Hub initiative. Launched in 2011, this initiative draws on the Millennium Seed Bank’s extensive collection of UK native seeds, as well as its horticultural and scientific expertise, to support the UK seed industry, conservation groups and other organisations working to restore native plants to the UK countryside.

The UK Native Seed Hub will eventually support restoration efforts across the full spectrum of UK habitats, but is focusing initially on lowland meadows and semi-natural grassland.

With partnerships across the UK

Kew’s Grow Wild team works with over 200 superb partners and suppliers to help us reach people across the UK - and we contribute to their exciting campaigns, too.

Our partners and suppliers include charities/not-for-profit, youth groups, local authorities, education groups, health providers, social housing landlords, businesses, central Government, media/press channels and many more besides.

Please contact our partnership team to discuss how Grow Wild can work with your organisation to develop reciprocal links and promotions.
