Grow Wild creative project funding - what's happening next?
We’re so impressed by the quantity, quality and creativity of the applications we’ve received; you guys are amazing!
The last few weeks have been anything but normal. The impact of COVID-19 is making this a really challenging time for everyone. We know that lots of hard work goes into making a funding application during the best of times. The fact that so many of you managed to do this, whilst complying with the social distancing rules, is really awesome!
Behind the scenes we’ve been doing lots of thinking and planning to decide how best we can support you at this time. Having watched your fantastic videos, we now know that asking you to change your projects so they can work during this period of social distancing, would not do you, or your ideas, justice.
Central to many of your plans is the ambition to bring people together in your community, in a place that matters to you. Without this, many of the project ideas would lose the very essence of what makes them special.
Because of this we’ve taken the very difficult decision to postpone our creative project funding until the social distancing rules have been relaxed and we are able to meet with our friends, family and neighbours once more.
We don’t know yet how long it will be until life is back to ‘normal’. But we want to reassure you that this is not a cancellation of the creative project funding – it will most definitely be returning
You should by now have also received an email from us explaining this news. We know you will have lots of questions, so we’ve attempted to predict and answer some of these.
Please check out our Q&A section below.
We’re sure you will be disappointed by this news and we are very sorry. We have taken this decision very seriously and we hope that you will understand the reasons behind it.
But it’s not all bad news!
We’ll be sending each of you who submitted project applications an indoor fungus growing kit, as a small token of our appreciation for your hard work. These launch in the autumn, so we’ll be in touch with you via email closer to the time, to confirm where you would like us to post your kit.
We’d like to thank you once again for all the effort, time and thought you’ve put into your proposals – we truly were blown away by the quality of them and we feel lucky to have such amazing people wanting to get involved with Grow Wild.
We hope that you, your friends and family stay safe and well during these difficult times.
If you’d like to keep hearing from us, you can sign up to our newsletter. We’d also encourage you to follow us on social media, too, as we’ll be posting updates on Grow Wild’s activities.

Q & A
Will I need to apply again when the funding is relaunched?
No – we have all your applications on file, so we’ll contact you to check if you would still like your project idea to be considered.
You won’t need to submit a new application video unless you wish to change your idea.
If you decide you would like to change your idea, you can submit a new application and video. We’ll let you know how to do this when the funding relaunches.
When will the projects be relaunched?
Due to the changing circumstances we are not able to give you a precise date right now, but it’s unlikely that we will be in a position to relaunch the funding during this summer. , We’ll email each of you as soon as we have a date confirmed. Please also keep an eye on our website and social media channels for other news and Grow Wild updates.
What if I can no longer work with my Supporting Organisation?
We understand that people’s circumstances may change over the next few months.
When the funding relaunches, if you can no longer work with your original Supporting Organisation, you will have the opportunity to name a different Supporting Organisation for your project.
Due to the nature of the funding, we will require everyone to have an eligible Supporting Organisation in place before they can be awarded a grant.
If you are struggling to find this in future, we will be very happy to talk to you and offer some suggestions.
What’s happening with the Grow Wild team right now?
Due to the impact of COVID-19, Grow Wild is going into temporary hibernation.
Whilst the team will not be available to advise on projects, we will still continue to update our Grow Wild followers with information and news via our newsletter and on social media with tips, support and advice. Your support and involvement in Grow Wild is really important and valuable to us and we encourage you stay connected with the community via our digital channels. We’d like to thank everyone for your ongoing patience and support during this difficult time.
